Salford events manager Sam Litten was on an everyday trip to the car wash when he found himself driving behind a virtual ‘Noah’s Ark.’
Knowing that no-one would ever believe him if he told them about it, Sam, 27, quickly activated the video camera on his phone.
He told the Manchester Evening News: “I saw the (driver of the car) come out of Basten Drive. I saw what I thought was a dog in the back.
“It looked like it had a beak. I was like ‘…what?’.
He went on:
“As they went in front of me I saw the people in the car behind me going ‘what the f***?’
“They looked at me and started laughing.”
“I saw what I thought was a dog in the back – it looked like it had a beak”
One of the sheep, squashed somewhat unsafely into the back of the Zafira, appeared to be looking back at him. The parrot – more sensibly – was riding in the passenger seat.
Sam posted the video to Facebook, saying: “There I am, minding my own, when I look into the car of a Jewish man, and think that’s a strange looking dog.
“Thank the lord, he cuts in front of me, and I get to witness the modern day rendition of Noah’s arc [sic].
“A deer, 3 sheep, and a parrot in the back of a Vauxhall Zafira driving through the torrential rains of Salford.”
Sam – who works at Manchester’s Albert Hall music venue might be a bit sketchy on his biology but his ability to spot amazing scenes is beyond question.
He says “I just thought it was hilarious. I have got no idea why the driver had (the animals) in the car. You would think it was a farmer, but then there was also a parrot.
There were five mammals.
“I saw the guy in the car, he just seemed normal. He looked like an average person. He didn’t seem fazed by it. He seemed pretty complacent,” he said.
One commenter, Salvatore St Croix, spoke for us all when he speculated: “Wonder what the car smells like inside!”
