The International Monetary Fund has been urging the US and China to set aside their differences on trade tariffs. Christine Lagarde warned at the Paris Club annual meeting of debtor countries: “Clearly the tensions between the United States and China are the threat for the world economy.” US President Donald Trump jolted markets at the beginning of this week, when he threatened that tariffs already imposed on 200 billion dollars in Chinese exports to the US would more than double this Friday, to 25 percent from their current level of 10 percent.
